Strong Word of God (hail) sent in the power of the Spirit (fire) to the people (earth, trees, grass) Those refusing the gospel of Christ were burned up

Rev. 8:8,9

Apostates replace the fire of the Word and the Spirit in the church, for human instrumentality and wisdom.  People started dying spiritually because of the apostasy

Rev. 8:10,11

Deepening of the apostasy, taking the form of Catholicism.  Instead of the life giving waters of pure doctrine, souls died under the bitter waters of Papal error.

Rev. 8:12

The light breaks forth with the understanding that salvation is by faith, not works.  Beginning of Protestant era-the cloudy day, where it was neither fully dark, nor light

Rev. 9:1-11

This is the first woe trumpet.  Sectism has no biblical foundation - a bottomless pit, with false glory and false prophets proceeding from it.

Rev. 9:13-21

This the second woe trumpet, and the message it sounded wrought a Reformation of God's Church, calling His true people out of sect Babylon
