The Lampstand or Golden Candlestick
was a type of the light of salvation in a regenerated soul. 1Pet. 2:9;
1Thess. 5:5; Eph. 5:8; Matt. 5:14-16; Ex 27:20; Isa. 60:19,10; Prov. 4:18
The Lampstand was in the left hand
side wall when you enter in. It was said to be as large as a man. It had seven
channels all drawing oil from a central reservoir. It was decorated with
almond buds and almonds and was kept lit constantly. It was called "the
Light of the world." It was made of pure gold, hammered and all in one
piece; a real work of art.
The channels going to each branch
are interesting. There was three on each side with one prominently in the
middle. Man was made on the sixth day and is the number of man biblically. One
is the number of God. There we have a simple and wonderful picture of God in
the midst of man. The side branches feeding off the central light. But all
feeding off the main reservoir. The Holy Spirit is the oil. O.K. so where is
the Messiah in this? Yeshua said, "I am the light of the world." The
Jews knew what he meant when he said that. He said another time, "I am
the vine and you are the branches." and again, "I, by myself can do
nothing." The apostle John, (all the apostles were Jewish ) saw a
revelation of Jesus, and he saw him standing in the midst of seven lampstands.
Here the light of the world shines
into the Holy place, the glory of all within is revealed by it. The central
reservoir, the Creator, the supplier, the first born- the Messiah, in the
midst of man. But see that man is included in this picture, lighting up the
sanctuary, And didn't the Messiah say to us, "You are the light of the
world" as well?
Can you see how perfectly all this
fits with the Word of God? No man could ever have planned all this, over the millennia
to fit so perfectly together. Yeshua either had to be who he said he
was, or a huge parade of coincidences, happening over centuries of time,
fitting perfectly together must be happening. That takes more faith to believe
than the truth itself.
Next we look to the right, and there is a small table filled with
golden vessels of ...........bread and wine.
